A child can attend a maths tuition centre at any age. However, if you’re seeking enrichment classes, you need to look at performance more than age. Maths enrichment is designed to deepen a child’s understanding of maths, and shouldn’t be seen as a remedial class for students struggling with basic maths.

Age is a guiding principle for the maths tuition centre, but the enrichment classes favor readiness over age. Sending a child to math enrichment too early may lead to burnout, and if the parent waits too long, they may miss the window to foster the child’s love for math. 

The next question you probably have is how to tell if a child is ready for maths enrichment classes. Here are some key signals.

Excels in math

It doesn’t matter what class the child is in. If they consistently get good grades (at least 75%), they may be ready for maths enrichment.

Curiosity

If the child keeps asking math questions or enjoys math brain teasers, they will likely enjoy math enrichment classes. Upper Primary

Maths enrichment at this level is mostly for exam preparation and math competitions. Tutors help to sharpen their knowledge. Worksheets tend to be more vigorous at this stage. The classes can be quite stressful, especially if the child has multiple enrichment classes.
